We're still struggling with Network Solutions nsCommerceSpace support. Since Network Solutions purchased Monster Commerce, telephone support has taken a couple of giant steps backwards.

First, e-commerce support has been cut from 24/7 to 8/5. Worse, for those of us not on the East coast, the operating time is 9-5 eastern time, so support ends for us at 2 PM. Similarly, in their eastern-time-zone-thinking, they seem to take their systems down for maintenance at 9 PM pacific time--when my customers are still shopping and we're occasionally still doing store maintenance.

There is also a significant disconnect between Network Solutions support and Network Solutions e-commerce support. Network Solutions support can't even find my account or my domain (this has happened several times), so we spend 10-15 minutes with me trying to convince them I am a customer of theirs.

Network Solutions e-commerce support really MUST improve.

The security breech that allowed credit card information to be compromised affected our store. I must state that it was a disappointment that Network Solutions’ security did not prevent what appears to be a malware installation or recognize that breech for several months on their servers and that storeowners were not notified more promptly.

On the other hand, it appears Network Solutions’ handling of the problem after the fact was professional, providing identification and notification of affected customers and providing credit monitoring gratis for those customers.

Nonetheless, the damage is done to affected retailers, and there is no way that can be undone.

Monstercommerce/Network Solutions is a complete joke! Idiots allowed 500,000+ credit card numbers to get swiped for THREE MONTHS before noticing. They don't host 99% of the ecommerce stores I use online so its pretty good to know that I'm safe so far except for ONE SITE that happened to be using their hosting services. Shutdown the credit card as soon as I found out.

I have an account as well with Network Solutions and like you lost some significant features in the upgrade from v4 to v7. I am also regretting that I am still with them with their recent security breach (www.careandprotect.com for details we had 54 users affected). I am hoping you got out before the security breach mess, and also hoping you might have found a better solution?

I am on 2 weeks of research and still not finding anything I feel safe moving my business to.

FYI your blogs went all the way up the corporate latter and ruffled quite a few feathers. Everyone knows Jim Sutton's name and website now.

After your network solutions blogs we were told that if someone threatened lawsuit let them know someone would contact them, but if someone threatened to blog to immediately get a supervisor.

We fired half our ecommerce staff this past February, eliminating weekend support and drastically cutting week day support hours. I wouldn't say it's your fault, but I'm sure these posts didn't help.

Sorry to get off track, but I am wondering if you experienced a decline in your visibility in search engines when Monster was taken over by network Solutions. It would appear to be the case for my client- even after adding content and updating links, etc. we cannot seem to get the previous ranking before the merger. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think the jury is still out, although Network Solutions/Monster Commerce has made some steps in the right direction under new management for their E-commerce product line.

I am told that they will no longer force version 4 users to migrate to version 7. Migrations are to version 7 will begin again soon, but, again, I'm told they will not be forced this time. Of course, this issue is that version 4 is quite dated, user unfriendly, and too expensive--so there would be reason to move to version 7, if they could ever fix the functional deficiencies.

The management team (and support) now state that they are again making bug fixes in Version 4 (something they had stopped doing for the last 2-3 years); that, at least, indicates a favorable attitude change.

As mentioned above, it appears Network Solutions E-commerce package is about 3 times more expensive than comparable packages (like ProStores). I've also had a new store built based on an open systems platform. The building was quick and cheap and looks much more modern than the Network Solutions E-commerce package. To compare, visit www.babyminestore.com and www.babybeddingboutique.com. The latter site only has a few products on it, because we were just trying to validate the open systems (osCommerce) approach.

Well Jim Sutton, what is your verdict update as of now? I too am an old monster customer and still with netsol. I lost lots of money last year and my migration was a freakin' mess. Anyway, things seem to be going better. But I am ready to build another website and I am debating on whether to use NS for it. Anyone have any ideas. Is there a better software platform? Should I go back to Yahoo Store, which I think is so much harder to use.
